Hazardous Chemical Awareness Training

This short course on Hazardous Chemical Awareness is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to work with chemicals effectively and safely in the workplace.

Participants will be provided information and instruction in how to identify the risks associated with chemicals in the workplace using the information from the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Label and other approved sources.

Though the legislation is discussed, this is more of a practical course explaining the various aspects of the SDS and guidance material available.

This course includes

• basic toxicology and how it is used to determine exposure limits
• the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) for the classification of hazardous chemicals
• legislative requirements relating to storage, handling and use of hazardous chemicals.
• selection, use, fit, maintenance and storage of personal protective equipment
• limitations of personal protective equipment
