Background

Mitchell has dedicated his entire career to supporting the global amusement industry. He began as an intern at Ardent Leisure—working across Dreamworld and WhiteWater World—while completing a Bachelor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The University of Queensland.

Since joining DRA in 2021, Mitchell has provided specialised technical expertise across Annual and Major Inspections, with a strong focus on finite element analysis (FEA) and design reviews to ASTM, EN, and AS/NZS standards. Holding RPEQ, NER, and Chartered Engineer credentials, he delivers engineering consultancy services throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Most recently, Mitchell served as a Lead Engineer with Westlakes Engineering in Manchester, UK, where he gained extensive international experience delivering Annual Inspections, Design Reviews, and System-Level Hazard Analyses for major global clients including Universal Creative and Merlin Entertainments.

Mitchell has proudly represented Australia at the IAAPA Expo in both Orlando and Singapore and currently holds active roles within several industry working groups and professional networks, continuing to contribute to the advancement of amusement ride safety and engineering standards.
