These tasks can be completed and not cause long term physical issues in workers however when any of the following occur there can be musculoskeletal disorders resulting in reduced capacity to work.

  • Vibration
  • Repetition
  • Sustained forces/positions
  • Awkward positioning
  • Sudden movements
  • Twisting

These tasks are called hazardous manual tasks are the most common source of workplace injuries. Businesses can manage these risks through using equipment to assist with the task and through adequate training. Injuries can occur from a large variety of different activities and can potentially result in long-term, expensive, and messy implications between employees and the business.
