DESCRIPTION:Fire Safety Adviser Refresher Training\nThe Fire Safety Adviser is a person who holds an approved building fire safety qualification\, issued within the last three years. Approved building fire safety courses are made up of eight units of competency in Workplace Emergency Response within the Australian Quality Training Framework. \nThe Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 was introduced on 1 July 2008. The most significant reform in the regulation is the requirement for occupiers of high occupancy buildings\, as defined under the regulation\, to appoint and train a Fire Safety Adviser. \nThis one day Fire Safety Adviser refresher courses reviews the following eight units of competency in Workplace Emergency Response within the Australian Quality Training Framework. DESCRIPTION:WHSO – Work Health and Safety Officer Training\nThe Work Health and Safety Officer Training comes from the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011. This training is provided to assist to reduce the serious economic and social impact on individuals\, businesses\, and the Australian community of work-related incidents. \nDRA have been providing this health and safety officer training for over 30 years. Originally businesses were required develop their own training course for approval. When the Legislation changed and the WHSO training was removed\, we moved the training course we developed to the AIHS and registered it as a National accredited training course. We continued to deliver this course now called WHS Advisor – 10312NAT. \nThen as the legislation changed again and the training was reintroduced\, we assisted in transferring the various elements from the 10312NAT to WHS QLD to become the WHSO training you see today. The trainers have been delivering this course are experienced and qualified and approved to deliver this training on behalf of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. \nWe are a Safety Company delivering a Safety Course\, we have a vested interest in this training course and do not permit any person apart from our qualified consultants to deliver this training. \nTraining Content\nThis training is focused on providing participants with the information and skills that will assist them in their role and functions under the WHS legislation including:\n– An understanding of the WHS legislation;\n– An understanding of how it applies to their role; and\n– The knowledge and skills necessary assist employers to meet their obligations under the WHS legislation. \nPersons appointed as a Health and Safety Officer by the business is required to undertake this training and receive a Certificate of Authority issued on behalf of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland or have an equivalent qualification. \nThis topic has been discussed on our Blog page. \nWe also offer a range of other health and safety courses including the Full WHSO 5-Day training course; the WHSO Elective and WHS consultancy services. \nFor more information on this training please contact us or peruse the other training courses on offer.

DESCRIPTION:Health and Safety Representative Training\nThis Health and Safety Representative training course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their role as a Health and Safety Representative (HSR) in Queensland. DRA is a WorkSafe Queensland approved provider of this course\, which is compliant under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (Qld). \nHSRs in Queensland are entitled to attend this WorkSafe Queensland approved five-day training course within three months of being elected as the HSR. Employers are required to allow the HSR to take paid time off work to attend this training and pay for training costs. \nLikewise\, HSRs are also entitled to attend the one-day Health and Safety Representative training refresher courses at least every three years after the initial five-day course has been completed (as per the Work Health and Safety legislation). \nThis Health and Safety Representative training aims to provide HSRs and deputy HSRs\, with information and skills relating to: \n\nInterpreting the WH&S legislative framework and its relationship to the HSR\nIdentifying key parties and their legislative obligations and duties\nEstablishing representation in the workplace\nParticipating in consultation and issue resolution\nRepresenting members in the WHS risk management process undertaken by the PCBU\nIssuing a Provisional Notice (PIN) and directing the Cessation of Work.\n\nThis Health and Safety Representative training course covers training required of a student in their role as an elected HSR. Training consists of written answers and practical exercises in the following: \n\nundertake workplace inspections\nreview the circumstances of workplace incidents\naccompany a WHSQ inspector during an inspection\nrepresent the work group in health and safety matters\nattend an interview about health and safety matters with a worker from the work group (with the consent of the worker)\nrequest that a health and safety committee be established\nparticipate in a health and safety committee\nmonitor compliance measures\ninvestigate work health and safety complaints from work group members\ninquire into any risk to the health and safety of workers in the work group\nissue provisional improvement notices and direct a worker to cease unsafe work (where the HSR has completed the approved training).\n\nThe role of a HSR is generally limited to their own work group unless: \n\nthere is a serious risk to health or safety (created by an immediate hazard) affecting workers from another work group\na worker in another work group asks for the HSR’s assistance\, and the HSR for that other work group is found to be unavailable.\n\nNOTE: Private courses can be customised and tailored by experienced and qualified Safety Consultants to suit your company needs (additional charges may apply). \nThis topic has been discussed on our Blog page. \nInformation on this training is provided in more detail at the Health and Safety Representative Initial 5-Day Training page. \nFor more information on this training please contact us or peruse the other training courses on offer.
